About Us

Hello, I'm Leslye Solomon, owner of Woolstock Knit Shop.  Our store has enjoyed the past eight years of success.  You may have seen my instructional knitting videos, read some of my articles in Knit N Style Magazine, or have been in my class at the many knitting seminars like Stitches scheduled around the country during the past 20 years, but this is my yarn store.

For you this means that your satisfaction and your project's success is most important to me - no matter where you are.  Not only do we have an unusually large stock of yarns, books, needles, and accessories, but when you buy yarn from us you have the care and concern from a large staff of experts.  You may be far away, but our goal is that your project is a pleasant and successful experience.

Meet our teaching staff...

Leslye Solomon has been teaching both hand and machine knitting for over 20 years throughout the U.S. She has been teaching to "sold-out" classes at every Stitches seminar since it began almost 16 years ago. Leslye is an accomplished author and has produced many instructional videos for hand and machine knitters, including The Hand Knitter's Guide to Sweater Finishing, The Hand Knitter's Guide to Buttonholes & Bands, and The Machine Knitter's Uh Oh Video. Her newest DVD, The Absolute Best Way to Learn How to Knit features her exclusive techniques to learn the method of Continental knitting. Her unique, fun teaching methods have helped thousands of people to become more confident, skilled knitters. Leslye currently writes a regular column for Knit 'N Style magazine, and recently released her own line of knitting patterns.

Mara Lloyd, a Stitches teacher, an experienced knitter & crocheter, and a Fine Arts graduate has an uplifiting sense of humor and amazing knitting skills. Each one of her classes deliver an exciting information-filled experience. Her most popular classes include Entrelac and Sock Making (on circulars, double-points, or magic loop). You’ll be an expert after one of her classes.

Phyllis Towns, a Stitches teacher, is one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. She imparts a wealth of information to her students, gleaned from many years of knitting and teaching experience.

Vicky Harvey brings an incredible attention to detail to her classes. Her expertise lies in complicated pattern interpretation, including lace and fine crochet. Whether crochet or knitting, her classes are packed with technical information way beyond your expectations.

We want to offer free technical help with purchase of yarn.  Sometimes you will have difficulty dicifering your pattern, need help with your gauge, or just suspect that there is a problem with what a knitting pattern is telling you to do.  We would like you to know that our staff of experienced and patient knitters and teachers are interested in helping you to solve your problems inperson or by phone.

Our help line is available for those who have purchased yarn from us.  We won't leave you "stranded!"

If you live in the Baltimore/Washington/Southern Pennsylvania area, visit us.  Call us and we will give you better directions than a regular map, or click the contact us link.  We will look forward to your arrival.

Take a look at our online newsletter.  We have a wonderful selection of classes.  Join us when we have special guests like the founders of Koigu Yarns. Our regular teachers, including myself, will advance your knitting and crochet knowledge to your delight.  If there are no classes that you want to take, just visit us, grab a chair and stay a while.  Out of the heat of summer or the cold of winter, the community of friends that can collect around our table makes you know knitting is truly more than just making scarves or sweaters.

The Original Blockers Kit

Don't use a million pins when you block! Just insert these stainless steel, rust-proof blocking wires along the edge of your unfinished pieces. The Blockers stop the curling so you can easily pin and steam to your desired measurement. Blockers act as a handle for every edge of your knitted piece. No longer will you need to pin every inch unsatisfactorily "scalloping" the edge of your knitted piece. Try our Blockers kit and you'll wonder how you ever lived without them.

Watch for Special Pricing on selected yarns!
